# Acquirer and PSP settlement

> Convert acquirer or PSP local-currency balances into stablecoin under a commercial agreement.

An acquirer, PSP or platform holding merchant settlement balances in local currency can settle them in stablecoin instead of moving the money through additional banking relationships. Stableyard converts those balances and delivers them to an approved destination.

<Note>
  This is arranged commercially, not enabled self-serve. There is no public endpoint that creates an acquirer settlement, and the flow, currencies and destinations are agreed before anything is switched on. Talk to Stableyard before building against it.

## Where the funds originate decides the review path

| | Funds sit in | Example |
| - | - | - |
| **First-party** | Processing merchant accounts the client owns | A retail group settling from its own merchant accounts, in its own name |
| **Third-party** | An intermediary settlement account holding other merchants' balances | A PSP converting from a settlement account holding sub-merchant balances |

Stableyard reviews each flow before enabling it. Be ready to explain who owns the account the funds sit in and whether an intermediary settlement account is involved.

## Your agreement sets the terms

Settlement runs on a prefunded basis. The funding arrangement, the eligible currencies and the approved destinations are named in your agreement, and the relationship begins with business verification.

Supported settlement currencies are broad; the set enabled for you is defined commercially rather than published. See [Supported regions and currencies](/supported-regions-and-currencies).
